Correspondence of the elders of the Volhyn voivodeship and the elders of Łuck and Mielnica kahals with the Kowel kahal
1) The elders of the Volhyn voivodeship order the leaseholders from the village of Hołoby to obey the kahal and the rabbi of Kowel. They oblige them to conduct their services and other religious practices in the Kowel synagogue and to pay taxes through the Kowel community, and they forbid them to move under the threat of a curse under the suzerainty of the communities in Łuck and Mielnica.
2) The elders of the Łuck kahal confirm the right of the Kowel kahal to rule over the leaseholders of the village of Hołoby and their exclusive competence to collect taxes and other contributions.
3) In response to a letter from the kahal of Kowel and a letter from the provincial elders to the kahal elders in Mielnica attached to that letter, the elders of the kahal in Mielnica state that they are unable to supervise the leaseholders of the village of Hołoby, who recognise the authority of various kahals and celebrate services and Jewish holidays in the various communities according to their needs. The Mielnica elders willingly enter into an agreement with the provincial elders and accept the leaseholders of the village of Hołoby only with their knowledge and written consent and on the conditions specified by the Kowel kahal and the senior rabbis of the Volhyn province.
