Settlement between the Chełm and Bełz elders and elders of Zamość Entailed Estate

Plenipotentiaries of the Chełm-Bełz land and Zamość Entailed Estate on the basis of the ruling of arbitration court in Piaski of May 21, 1721, established that the entailed estate Jews should pay 360 zlotys, while the Chełm and Bełz Jews should pay 640 zlotys for every one thousand zlotys in tax. Towns appropriated by the Chełm and Bełz land, i.e. Biłgoraj, Krasnobród, Modliborzyce, Pilaszkowice, Gorzków, and Łaszczów are to return to the estate and be recognized in its assessment of poll tax. In the case of Sieniawa, evidence was ordered to prove that it was subordinate to Tarnogród two years before the separation of the estate from the Chełm-Bełz region. The parties were also supposed to settle their accounts during the Jewish council in Ryczywół in 1722 from the wyderkauf (purchase of annuity) debts contracted by the communities, commissions paid to the creditors, and other obligations. Depending on which side took over particular communities, wyderkauf debts were added to the poll tax tariff of one of the parties. Accordingly, the tariff for the other party was reduced by this amount. The land elders or the elders of Zamość Entailed Estate could be punished with a fine of 100 ducats and the loss of seniority for non-compliance with the settlement.
