Rescript of King Jan III Sobieski repealing the universal against the elders of Bełz voivodeship and Chełm land
After new circumstances came to light, King Jan III Sobieski overrules the universal published by Crown chancellery that ordered the rabbis and elders of the Bełz voivodeship and Chełm land to resign and to verify the land’s bills upon the request of Chona Markowicz. He orders the communities in the Bełz voivodeship and Chełm land, represented by Chona Markowicz and those represented by elders and rabbis, to settle at the next Council of the Four Lands in Jarosław. Until then he orders the elders and rabbis, whom he confirms in their offices, to gather at the council in Hrubieszów and to choose two delegates for the Council of the Four Lands.
