Universal of Podole Voivode Stefan Humiecki to Podole Jews
The Podole Voivode Stefan Humiecki reports that he ordered Samuel Markowicz, the rabbi of Żwaniec, to convene a meeting of the land elders of Podole communities to end the subordination of Jews from the Podole voivodeship to the land of the Ruthenian voivodeship and to choose their representative who will attend the next Jewish council of the Ruthenian land together with the Żwaniec rabbi. The Żwaniec rabbi will lobby for the independence of Podole Jews at this next Jewish council.
