Declaration of Leib Moszkowicz, a syndic of the Volhyn land

Lejba Moszkowicz, a Jewish syndic of the Volhyn voivodeship, testified regarding the attempt to arrest Moszek Józefowicz, rabbi of Dubno, which the Jews gathered at the congress in Ostrożec did not allow (due to respect for Dymitr Wiśniowiecki, the voivode of Kraków, the grand Crown hetman, whose subject Moszek was; additionally he was the son-in-law of the ducal agent, Pejsach Ajzykowicz). At the same time, the syndic said that the elders gathered at the regional council did not let the said Moszek participate in the council’s deliberations. The arrest attempt was made on the request of Krzysztof Kordysz, a cupbearer of Bracław, judge in the castle court of Łuck.
