Universal by Jan Tarło, the Sandomierz voivode, regarding the land rabbi of Cracow and Sandomierz

Jan Tarło, the Sandomierz voivode, following in the footsteps of Jan Klemens Branicki, the Cracow voivode, concedes the post of the rabbi of Cracow-Sandomierz region to Dawid Szmelka, the former land rabbi. At the same time, the voivode retracts his decision to give the office to Icek Jonowicz, as he was found to be incapable of holding the position of a rabbi. He instructs all Jews of Sandomierz voivodeship to obey Dawid and to appear at the congress of the elders to select their representatives for the upcoming Jewish assembly in Jarosław.
