Privilege by King Augustus III to Lejba Szmojlowicz, a Krzemieniec rabbi

King Augustus III approves as the rabbi general of Krzemieniec Lejba Szmojlowicz and confirms the approval of the late starost of Krzemieniec Paweł Sanguszko Lithuanian Marshal while approving Lejba in the office of the general scribe of the Crown and Volhynia Jews. He also states that both duties may be served regardless of Lejba’s place of residence, and agrees that after his death, both offices can be inherited by his son. The king orders that debts due to Lejba be paid, releases him from paying debts incurred by Jewish communities and releases him from the jurisdiction of all courts except the royal appeal court.
