Lawsuit to the Radom tribunal against the land elders of Lublin concerning the unjust orders of payment for the Jews from Bełżyce
Brothers Stefan and Aleksander from Targowisko Gałęzowscy, the sons of the Castellan of Lublin and the heirs of the property of Belżyce, assisted by the kahal from Belżyce and not consenting to the orders of payment issued annually for the local Jews, sue the land elders of the province of Lublin: rabbis from Opole, Zwoleń, Kazimierz Dolny, Lejba from Kurów and Marek from Bełżyce to the tax tribunal in Radom. The plaintiffs also accuse them of imposing a burden of poll tax on a Jewish leaseholder from Bochotnica (particular of Bełżyce) recently attached to the property of the town of Kazimierz Dolny.
Submitted into the castle court records of Lublin by court beadle Stanisław Gorajek on the 16th May 1749. A copy of the lawsuit was delivered today to the house of the rabbi in Kazimierz.
