Letter of Seweryn Rzewuski, the referendary of the Crown, to the Chełm elders regarding the Luboml kahal

In connection with the complaint of the Luboml Jews, Seweryn Józef Rzewuski, the great referendary of the Crown and the starost of Chełm and Luboml, orders the elders of Chełm, according to the principle of alternation, to allow the Luboml kahal elders to hold the offices of the marshal, elders, trustees, and appraiser in the Chełm-Bełz land and participate in Councils of the Four Lands in Jarosław on equal terms with the Chełm kahal. Under the threat of undertaking legal measures, he prohibits the Chełm elders to collect poll tax from Luboml above the sum of 1000 zlotys and demands the return of an excessively collected tax; the arrangement of a new allocation; and the conducting of financial calculations.
