Court entry of documents pertaining to the matter of the sum of the Jewish poll tax due from the Jews of Sieniawa

During the assembly of Crown Jews in 1748, the land elders of Chełm and Bełz reached an agreement with the Jews of Sieniawa which states that the Sieniawa qahal’s poll tax is to be only 1,400 zlotys a year for the next eight years. This agreement was accepted by the speaker and by the Crown elders. After that, on the Crown Treasurer’s request, the agreement was extended from eight to ten years. In the latest document, the speaker of the Crown Jews, Abraham Chaimowicz, orders the land elders to honor the agreement they have made.
