Protestation of the community of Dobromil against the Jews of Chyrów

Abraam Ickowicz Tarnawski from Dobromil, on behalf of both the Jews from Dobromil and Błażej, the landlord of Węgrów, Dobromil and Krasne [Krasiński]. Basing on the decrees of the Crown Elders, issued at the assemblies in Tyszowce, Szczebrzeszyn and Konstantynów, as well as the former protestations against Major Moszkowicz who usurped the office of the rabbi, Zuzman Józefowicz and other Jews of the town of Chyrów, the hereditary property of Mniszech, who from time immemorial had been subject to the synagogue of Dobromil in secular, spiritual, commercial as well as tax matters, as they did not have the separate management or legal personality. They have been trying to break away from this for several years, with the support of the landlords, creating their own rabbi to the detriment of the Dobromil synagogue, diminishing its income, including the funeral income, having set up their own cemetery and synagogue (against the law), annexing the villages with the leaseholders and their annual income that had previously belonged to Dobromil. Protestors reject the settlement of 1728 concluded by Berek Dukielski without the knowledge of the entire community, although approved by Stanisław Wielogórski, the plenipotentiary of Mniszch . The agreement was rejected by the Dobromil Jewish community as harmful and unlawful. Due to the reduction of income, Dobromil is unable to pay the poll tax, which amounted to 5,000 zloties and led to its fall, while the Jews in Chyrów are getting richer and richer thanks to the trade and mills, being reinforced by the immigrants from Dobromil. The Jews of Chyrów do not want to pay annually the poll tax of 400 złp, and even refuse to pay smaller amounts. The community of Dobromil also protests against being sued to the tax tribunal in Radom because of a non-existent settlement.
